Deadlifting. is. so. simple.
Pick it up & put it down.
Yet, we love to complicate things. So here’s my biggest tip
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👏🏻KEEP YOUR BACK FLAT.👏🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✖️ If you’re looking like a turtle from the side then you’re not doing it right. ✖️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your spine CANNOT take that type of compression for extended periods of time. & It’s not meant too, because your core & legs should be taking most of the load.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My favorite analogy is to think of your back like a fishing rod. 🎣 If there’s a shark at the end of that fishing rod & the pole starts to bend, chances are after a while it’s not going to be able to handle that force. So eventually it will break.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Same thing goes with your back & a barbell.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The more effectively you can “brace your core” (Check out the IG post I did last week if that concept confuses you) & engage your lat’s, the better chance you have of completing the lift & not breaking your body in the process.
